AI‑Driven Turnaround & Permit Intelligence System

Context


Turnarounds in petrochemical and refinery operations are high‑risk, highly time‑critical events involving hundreds of interdependent tasks and safety permits. This solution uses Microsoft Copilot and AI‑First Planner Designer to create a centralized intelligence assistant that manages turnaround tasks, safety permits, dependencies, and sequencing.


Challenges


Supervisors currently review permits manually, assess risk in isolation, and track dependencies across complex activities. This creates blind spots in sequencing, delays in identifying incomplete or high‑risk permits, and makes it hard to maintain a real‑time view of readiness and progress—all of which increase operational and safety risk.


Solution

Using AI‑first design, the system generates processes, roles, data models, and workflows. A Turnaround Control Center app centralizes tasks, permits, approvals, risk ratings, and progress. The Turnaround Intelligence Agent reviews all records for completeness, highlights high‑risk and incomplete permits, evaluates dependencies, and provides optimal sequencing guidance,giving supervisors, safety coordinators, and planners real‑time, actionable insight.
